Things To Know . . .

God loves us and wants a healthy personal relationship with us

· John 3:16

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. NKJV (New King James Version)

To help us understand what this verse is saying to us, let's look at a couple other verses in the Bible.

· Romans 5:8

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” NKJV (New King James Version)

Let us think about what this verse is saying, “while we were still sinners.” We did not have a thought or desire for a personal relationship with God, yet He showed His desire to have a relationship with us. He had Jesus Christ die for us. There was no guarantee we were going to want a relationship with Him. We were not even born yet, we had no thought or desire to have a relationship with him. Think about it, He did this because He loved us. Remember, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

· John 10:10 (b)

“. . . I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” NKJV

In the Book of Genesis we gain an understanding of our relationship with God. God formed man out of the dust of the ground, and breathed into him the breath of life and man became a living soul.

God had good intentions for us. He prepared a garden for man and woman to live in. In this garden they had all the food and water they needed. God's instruction was, " . . . Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it;” Genesis 1:28 NKJV.

You see, God had good intentions just like you and I do for our children. God had a personal relationship with man. In Genesis 3 it is indicated that He came in the cool of the day to have fellowship with His creation. In Genesis 3:8,9 out of all the provisions, the one and only one thing they were not to do, they did and it changed life forever for mankind.

Now we don't even hardly think about God and if we do it is in fear, indifference or out right hate. God does not want to have a relationship of fear. He wants a relationship based on love. It has always been so from the beginning. That is why God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, even when we were yet sinner to bring us back to a relationship based in love not fear.

Will you believe in Jesus and be restored to a healthy relationship with God?
